Blackbird, Red-Winged 🆕

This Red-Winged Blackbird starting coming in early spring, 2020. He comes alone and I have not seen any others in the area. He does not come every day but a couple times a week. If you are wondering why he is called "red" winged, check out the one picture of it preening on balcony railing and you can just see the red bar on its wing. This red bar is mostly hidden all other times. He is definitely a he, as the females are a plain brown. I will try to get a flying picture in the future which will showcase the color better. RWBB are located in this area year round so hopefully there will more pics in the future. Like the Grackles, the offspring of the blackbirds are prey to every raptor in this area, even owls. Additionally, RWBB of any age including the eggs are at risk to be taken by raptors, other birds, snakes, foxes, and raccoons. Ours does not appear to be aggressive at all and I am therefore assuming there is no nest nearby.
