Carolina chickadees are very common in this area. They look almost identical to Black-capped Chickadees. Black-capped chickadees are typically not in this area but can be occasionally due to breeding across these two species. See this article 📰.

So for this page we have marked them as Carolina Chickadees; though, in some pictures they do look more like Black-capped. Regardless, These have been with us from nearly the beginning coming to the feeder along with other birds like Titmice. They are very fast. I have read that some people can get these to eat out their hands. We have not attempted this but probably could as they are very used to us. When I refill the feeders they sit very close and have flown right next to us.
