In February 2019,  Around the 17th, two times a day we had   a "bird palooza," what we call it.  A  murder of crows, a round of robins, and a party of jays swarm an area of the neighborhood.  At my house it's my front yard.  They then begin "dive bombing," to the ground from branches.  After a few minutes, the groups moved to another house or street.

Several days into this my daughter noticed slugs on the front porch.  So, I am guessing this is what they were going for in the ground.
Anyway, this has provided an opportunity for additional pictures and has softened my  stance/superstition of them (due in part to have a great-grandmother who was 100% Cherokee).  There is nothing I hate more in garden then slugs. (well maybe beetles).  I think this is the only  time I have seen them accepted by the other backyard bird.

We will probably not have many pictures as  daily when the crows are around, like the hawks, some of the other birds chase them away.   One alighted on the top of the railing hook and only sat there for 2 seconds before the birds mobbed him.

I am thinking we mostly have American Crows; though we are so close to the ocean and the water a block away that it maybe an occasionally a Fish Crow.  It doesn't matter as they all have a bad reputation.

Of course, doesn't help that a group of crows is called a murder.  One of the kids has exploited this fact by shouting, "Mom, I just saw a murder."  Yeah..soooo funny, right?
